An Exploration on Adult Education Status and Direction of People with Mild Disabilities

    Abstract

    This study tried to explore after high school graduation of people with mild disabilities. For the purpose of this study, I explored adult education of people with learning disabilities, mild intellectual disabilities, and emotional and behavioral disabilities who could be included in mild disabilities. This study explored major educational environments before graduating high school, and mentioned that the necessity of support according to the educational environments. This study mentioned that people with mild disabilities could be generally classified as entrance to additional educational institutes, employment, and unemployed, and mentioned that adults with mild disabilities could receive supports by 3 types of adult education((higher education, lifelong education, vocational education) despite these classifications. In addition, this study classified the difficulties that adults with mild disabilities could experience difficulties such as learning difficulties, social•emotional difficulties, and vocational difficulties, and tried to emphasize that the supports according to each type of difficulties would need to be provided.
